This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP. It is intended for beginners to use PSP plugins. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro 8 (or 9). . You may download a free trial at Jasc. Remember to save as a psp file often! Before we begin, you might want to study the PSP tool bars. I have labeled the tools on another page. Click on the link and it will open a new page. You may want to keep this page open while you work on the tutorial, to refer to the names now and then. PSP Tools Now that you have studied the tools, let's begin! 1. Open a new, transparent image, size 400 x 400. 2. In top menu, click Effects > Artistic Effects > Balls and Bubbles. On the box that opens
up, click on the first tab (shape). Click on Single Ball or bubble and
maximum size.
Click on the second tab (surface). The color does not matter. Opacity = 100, shininess 50, gloss = 28
Click on the third tab (Maps). Place a Check in bump Map and choose the Weave pattern. Smoothness = 8, Depth = 65. Place a Check in Environment Map and a dot in Environment map. Choose Rust pattern.
Click on the Fourth tab (Illumination). Maximum = 100, minimum= 0, Light 1, Color = #713B17, Brightness = 30.
This is what you get:
3. Image > Resize. Resize to 80%. Be sure Resize All Layers is UNchecked.
4. Click on the selection tool, set to Rectangle. Then in the tool options menu, click on the Custom Selection icon. Top =0, left= 0, right = 400, bottom = 200.
5. In top menu, click Selections > Promote Selection to Layer.
6. In Layer Palette, click on the eye for the Promoted layer to hide that layer, then click on the bottom (basket) layer to activate it. Press the delete key on the keyboard.
7. Choose the Rectangle Selection tool again, and click on the Custom Selection Icon. Top = 198, left = 0, right = 400, bottom = 210.
8. In top menu, click on Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel. Choose the Frame preset.
9. Choose the magic wand tool, and in the tool options, place a check by Sample Merged.
10. In the layer palette, UNhide the top layer, and click on the top layer to activate it. With the magic wand click on the outside of the ball.
11. In top menu, click Selections > Invert.
12. In top menu, click Selections > Modify > Contract. Contract by 10.
13. Click on the delete key on the keyboard.
14. In top menu, click on Selections > None. Then click on Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel, and apply the frame preset again. 15. Now choose the Deformation Tool and drag the top center handle upward to elongate the handles. And drag the bottom center handle downward a little to be below basket rim.
16. In the Layer Palette, drag the top layer to the bottom so that the handles will fall beneath the basket. 17. Now keep the layers as they are, and save this as a .psp tube. To insert eggs, flowers, or other graphics to decorate your basket:
