This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about making baskets.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS or CS2.  You may download a free trial at Adobe.

Remember to save as a .psd file often!

Download and install plugin:  Eye Candy 4000

1.  Open a new, transparent image, size 600 x 600

2.  Choose the rectangle selection tool, and draw a rectangle selection near lower left corner (see pic).  Edit > Fill with the color of your choice.

3.  Filter > Eye Candy 4000 > Weave.  Apply these settings below:  Ribbon Width = 21.60, Gap Width = 1.18, Shadow Strength = 90, Thread Detail = 52, Thread Length = 36.00, CHECK Smear Ribbons, Tick Fill with solid Color, Fill Color = BLACK.

4.  Right-click on layer and choose Duplicate Layer

5.  Click on bottom layer.  Filter > Other > Offset.  Horizontal = 45, Vertical = - 40, Set to Transparent

6.  Right-click on bottom layer and choose Duplicate Layer.

7.   With mover tool, move this duplicate all the way to the right (be sure to get the edges to touch.

8.  Edit > Transform > Distort.  Grab the TOP right node and drag it to meet the top right corner of the back panel.  Then to make it easy on myself, I dragged the BOTTOM right node inward just past the bottom right corner.

9.  Drag that bottom right corner to meet the bottom right corner of the back panel.  Click the CHECK in the top toolbar to apply the distortion

10.  Click on the eye of the bottom layer to HIDE that layer and check for gaps.  Redo Step 8 & 9 if there is a gap.  UNHIDE layer when satisfied.

11.  Right-click on the side panel layer and choose Duplicate Layer.

12.  Move the duplicate layer to the left side, so that the edges meet up.  You may have to use the distort tool (Edit > Transform > Distort) to fix the corners as necessary.

13.  HIDE the top layer to check for gaps.  Realign with the distort tool as necessary.  UNHIDe layer when satisfied.

14.  Click on the bottom layer.  Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast.  Set Brightness = - 30, Contrast = 0

15.  Apply the same Brightness/Contrast to the left panel layer.

16.  Layer > New > Layer

17.  Choose the ellipse shape tool.  Draw an ellipse that is as wide as the basket and the same color you used before.  Right-click on the ellipse layer and choose Rasterize Layer.

18.  With the magic wand, click on the ellipse to select.  Select > Modify > Contract Selection.  Contract by 5.  Press the DELETE key.  This makes the basket's handle.

19.  With the rectangle selection tool, select the bottom half of the ellipse and click DELETE

There's your basket.

Now you can make a round basket (a little easier, but less pictures!)

1.  Use the ellipse selection tool to draw a vertical ellipse.

2.  Edit > Fill the ellipse with color of your choice.

3.  Apply Filter > Eye Candy 4000 > Weave, same settings as Step 3.

4.  Right-click on layer and choose blending options.  Click on the WORDS  Inner Shadow, apply these settings:  Blend Mode = Multiply, black, opacity = 75%, angle = 120, distance = 5, choke = 0, size = 32.

5.  Draw a rectangle selection on top half of ellipse.  Edit > Copy.  Press Delete Key.  Select > Deselect.  Edit > Paste.

6.  With magic wand, select area outside top half.  Select > Inverse

7.  Select > Modify > Contract Selection.  Contract by 5 pixels.

8.  Press delete key.  Now you have the handle for the basket.

9.  With the mover tool, move the handles down just below the top edge of the basket.  Then drag the handle layer to the bottom.  There's your round basket!

Don't forget to decorate your basket!  Find flowers or other tubes.  Select the tube.  Edit > Copy.  Then click back on the basket.  Edit Paste.  Paste each tube on its own separate layer so you can move around as necessary or resize (Edit > Transform > Scale)

Save your basket as a GIF when you are ready to share with the group.
