Amore Tag

The idea for this tutorial came from my friend, Cathy/Moomaw as a result of playing around with one of my backgrounds.  With her permission, I wrote this tutorial to show how to create her lovely tag.  Any similarity to another tutorial is purely coincidental.  Cathy and I claim the copyrights to my tutorial. You are free to do whatever you please with what you make, but please do not take my tutorial.  Do not send the tutorial through email.  Only share my link.

This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP.  It is intended for intermediates to learn how to use preset shapes and to shade.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro.  I wrote this with  Paint Shop Pro 9, but the steps may also be done in any version.  You may download a free trial at Jasc.

Remember to save as a psp file often!

1.  You will need to create the background for this tutorial using another tutorial.  Use whatever colors you like.

Background Tutorial:  Blocky Checks Background

2.  Download these supplies.  The lines brush was created by Kris.  I do not know who created the other brush or tubes.

You will need to save the two brushes into your brushes folder of psp9.  Then they will need to be imported.  File > Import > Custom Brushes.

3.  You will get a box like below.  Click on Open and find the two brushes that you need (Gojuss valentine11 & lines-kris 001) .  Then click the Add All button.

4.  Open the face tube.  Edit > Copy.

5.  Click back on the background.  Edit > Paste > Paste as New Layer.

6.  Image > Resize.  Resize to 80 or 75%.  Be sure Resize all Layers is UNCHECKED.

7.  In the top menu, click Image > Mirror

8..  With the mover tool move the face tube into position at the lower left corner.

9.  In the Layer Palette, Slide the layer opacity to 50%

10.  Open up the tulip tube.  Edit > Copy

11.  Click back on the background image.  Edit > Paste > Paste as New Layer.

12.  Use the Deformation tube to resize the tulips smaller.  You do this by right-clicking on the top left corner, and dragging inward.  Right-clicking makes the tube resize in proportion.  Move the tube into position in the lower right corner.

13.  In the top menu, click Layers > New Raster Layer.

14.  Click on the Brush tool.  Then in the brush tool bar at the top, click the brush shapes drop-down menu, and choose Line horizontal.

We are going to place 5 lines.  Use the pic below for reference in Steps 15 - 19.

15.  Set the size = 200, Thickness = 2, Foreground color = gold gradient.  Line up the left edge of the line brush with the 290 mark on the left-side ruler, and flushed to the left side of the image.

16.  Change the size = 175.  Line up the left edge of the line brush with the 280 mark on the left-side ruler, and flushed to the left side of the image.

17.  Change the size = 150.  Line up the left edge of the line brush with the 270 mark on the left-side ruler, and flushed to the left side of the image.

18.  Change the size = 125.  Line up the left edge of the line brush with the 260 mark on the left-side ruler, and flushed to the left side of the image.

19.  Change the size = 100.  Line up the left edge of the line brush with the 250 mark on the left-side ruler, and flushed to the left side of the image.

20.  In top menu, click Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow.  Apply these settings:  V&H= 1, Opacity = 67, Blur = 1, Color = black

21.  Change the brush to the Gorjuss valentine 11 tube.

22.  In top menu, click Layers > New Raster Layer.

23.  Set the Size=361

24.  Left-click once on the image where you want to place the word "Amore".

25.  Apply the same Drop Shadow setting.

26.  In the top menu, click Image > Add Borders.  Choose Symmetric, Size = 10, Color = white

27.   Choose the white border with the magic wand.  Flood-fill the border with your gold gradient.

28.  In the top menu, click Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel.  Apply the Metallic setting.

29.  In the top menu, click Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow.  Apply these settings:  V&H = 2, Opacity = 87, Blur = 3, Color = black

30.  Apply a Drop Shadow again, but this time change V&H =  - 2 (negative)

31.  Add your name and watermark if you like.  Save this as a JPEG.  File > Export > JPEG Optimizer.

Here's my example with some different tubes.
