This tutorial was created for
some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP.
It is intended for high beginners to intermediates to learn how to use
filters. If you have any questions, please feel free to
email
me.
To do this tutorial you will also
need Paint Shop Pro. I used Paint
Shop Pro 8, but the steps used may also be done in Version 7. You
may download a free trial at Jasc.
This tutorial uses Eye Candy 3.1
filter, and a tube of your choice.
1. Open up the tube that you want to use. On keyboard, press Shift +D, to duplicate the tube. Close the original. 2. Resize your tube so that
the largest dimension is no more than 400 pixels. In top menu, click
Image > Resize. Set size to pixels, and set largest dimension to
400. Check all layers.
3. In top menu, click Image
> Canvas Size. and change width & height to 500, centered horizontally
and vertically.
4. In Layer Palette, right-click on layer and choose Duplicate.
5. In the Layer Palette, click on the bottom layer to activate it. 6. In top menu, click Effects > Plugin Effects > Eye Candy
3.1 > Fire. Apply these settings:
7. In Layer Palette, click on bottom layer (the one you applied the fire to), and choose Duplicate. 8. In top menu, click Image > Mirror. Use the Mover tool to slide the two fire images close together, towards the center of the image. 9. In Layer Palette, click on the top layer to activate it. 10. In top menu, click Image > Resize. UNCHECK Resize all
Layers, and resize to 85 percent. With the mover tool, slide this
image onto the center between the two mirrored fire images.

3.1 > Fire. Apply these settings:
12. For the two bottom layers (mirrored images), slide the opacity
bar to 40% in the Layer Palette.
13. In top menu, choose Layers > Merge > Merge Visible
14. In top menu, choose Layers > New Raster Layer. Call
this layer background.
15. In the Layer Palette, drag the background layer down to the
bottom.
16. Set your foreground color to color = #FFFF00
17. Flood-fill the background layer with this color. 18. With the Selection tool set to rectangle, draw a rectangle,
closely surrounding your image.
19. In top menu, choose Image > Crop to Selection. 20. In Layer Palette, click on top (merged) layer to activate it. 21. In top menu, click Effects > Plugin Effects > Eye Candy
3.1 > Fire. Apply these settings:
22. With the magic wand (tolerance =0), select the area outside
of the flames at the top left and right corners.
23. In the Layer Palette, click on the background layer to activate
it, and press the delete button on the keyboard. This eliminates
the yellow in that selected region.
24. In top menu, click Layers > Merge > Merge Visible. 25. Choose your text tool and color = Red. I used the Blood Omen Font, size = 28. Add your Burning Desire message: "My Desire for you burns deep inside me". 26. While the text is still selected, apply a drop shadow.
