This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about filling selections. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS. You may download a free trial at Adobe. You will also need these supplies and 3 framed images from the Polaroid Memory Tutorial. (Or you may use 1 polaroid memory tag 3 times.) Remember to save as a .psd file often! 1. Open up your three Polaroid Memory Images. 2. Choose one and from top menu, click Image > Duplicate. We will work off the duplicate.
3. In top menu, click Image > Canvas Size. Change Canvas size to 600 x600. We will work in a large workspace and crop excess later. 4. In top menu, click Edit > Transform > Scale. This places deformation handles (little boxes) around your framed image.
5. Lock the aspect ratio by clicking on the lock icon in the tool options menu at the top. It is circled in the image below.
6. Now left click and hold on one of the corner handles, and drag the image in to make it about 1/4 the original size. Only the corner handles will retain the aspect ratio so be sure that you use a corner handle to drag in. Click on the check mark at the top to apply the transformation.
7. Click on your second Polaroid Memory, and in top menu, click Edit > Copy.
8. Click on your first image and in top menu, click Edit > Paste to paste the second memory as a new layer on the first. 9. In top menu, click Edit > Transform > Scale. Lock the aspect ratio by clicking on the lock icon in the tool options menu at the top. Now left click and hold on one of the corner handles, and drag the image in to make it about 1/4 the original size. Click on the check mark at the top to apply the transformation. 10. In top menu, click Edit > Transform > Rotate.
11. If you hold your mouse button near the right top handle, you will see a curved double headed arrow. Left click, hold, and drag the mouse down and to the right, and the image will rotate clockwise (to right). Rotate the image a little. See image below. When satisfied with the rotation, click the check mark at the top to apply the rotation.
12. Now click on your third polaroid memory image. Repeat Steps 7 through 11. This time rotate counterclockwise or to the left. 13. With your mover tool, move the three layers so that they slightly overlap. In the Layer Palette drag the top layer down to the bottom.
14. In top menu, click Layer > Merge Visible.
15. In top menu, click Image > Rotate Canvas > Flip Canvas Vertical.
16. Open up the camera.psd image. In top menu click Edit > Copy. Then on frames image, click Edit > Paste. Now the camera is added as a new layer to your image.
17. In top menu click Edit > Transform > Scale. Lock the aspect ration (see step 10), and drag one of the corner handles in to shrink the camera to a size that matches your polaroids.
18. In the layer Palette, right-click on the camera layer and click on Blending Options.
19. Click on the words Drop Shadow. In the Drop Shadow, change Blend Mode to Normal, color = black, Opacity = 75, Angle = 93, CHECK Use Global Light, Distance = 15, Spread = 0, Size = 15. click ok. This adds a shadow that is cast by the camera onto the polaroids.
20. Click on the text tool and add your name. I used English font in size 72 points. Your size may vary according to the font you choose. Click the check mark to apply. 21. In top menu, click Edit > Transform > Rotate. Rotate your name to the left so that it is perpendicular to the bottom.
22. In the Layer Palette, right-click on the Text layer and choose Blend Options. Click on the words Bevel and Emboss. Style = Inner Bevel, Technique = Smooth, Depth = 100, Direction = up, size = 5, soften = 0.
23. Then click on the words Drop Shadow. Blend Mode = Normal, Opacity = 100, Angle = 93, CHECK Use Global Light, Distance = 1, Spread = 0, Size = 1.
24. Choose the rectangle selection tool and draw a close fitting box around your tag to crop off the excess space.
25. In top menu, click Image > Crop. 26. Resize your image so that the
longest dimension is no more than 300 pixels. Click Image > Resize.
27. Save this image as a Compuserve/GIF.
