Constellations

I wrote this tutorial on my own.  Any similarity to another tutorial is purely coincidental.  I claim the copyright to my tutorial. You are free to do whatever you please with what you make, but please do not take my tutorial.  Do not send the tutorial through email.  Only share my link.

This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about making animations.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS or CS2.  You may download a free trial at Adobe.

Remember to save as a .psd file often!

Download the Filter:  Alien Skin Xenofex 2 Constellation or here

1.  Open a new, transparent image, size = 200 x 200 pixels

2.  Choose the Custom Shape Tool

3.  In the top tool bar, choose the shape you want to use, and set the Style to null.  Set the color to a pale color of your choice.

4.  Draw the shape.

5.  Right-click on the shape layer and choose Rasterize Layer

6.  Right-click on the shape layer and choose Duplicate Layer.  Duplicate once more so that you have 3 layers.

7.  With the magic wand click on the inside of the shape.

8.  Selection > Modify > Expand.  Expand by 1 pixel.

9.  Filter > Alien Skin > Xenofex 2 > Constellation.  Apply these settings: 

10.  Click on the next shape layer in the Layer Palette.

11.  Filter > Alien Skin Xenofex 2 Constellations.  Apply same settings EXCEPT click on the Random Seed button a couple of times.

12.  Click on the last shape layer and apply the same filter EXCEPT clicking on the Random Seed button a couple of times.

13.  Save this as a PSD image.

14.  Open up Image Ready, and open your psd image.

15.  In the Animation Frame, click on the menu button on the X and choose Make Frames From Layers.

16.  My image has a black background so you can see it better.  Choose the text tool, and set it to your font choice, color choice, size choice.  Type your name.

17.  Click on the time menu next to the 0 sec on EACH frame and change it to 0.1 seconds.

18.  Windows > Optimize.  In the Optimize window, set Format = GIF, Color Table = Selective, Dither = NO Dither, Transparency CHECKED, Dither = Diffusion, Amount = 100%,

19.  Image > Trim

20.  Now save as an animation.  File > Save Optimized As
