This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP.  It is intended for beginners to learn how to use tubes and filters.  If you have any questions, please feel free to Email  me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro.  I wrote this with  Paint Shop Pro X, but the steps may also be done in any version.  You may download a free trial at Corel.

Remember to save as a psp file often!

1.  Download the Supplies.   You will need your own eye tube.

      Download and install Visman Filters.

Download the Crime Scene brush set here.

2.  Open new, transparent image, size = 500 x 450.   Flood-fill the background with a color that will complement your eye.

3.  Open up the eye tube.  Edit > Copy.  Click back on the background image.  Edit > Paste As Selection.  Move the eye (pupil of the eye) so that it is at the center of the image.  Selection > None.

4.  Effects > Plugins > VM Extravaganza > James Bondage.  Apply these settings:  Calibre = 70, Spin = 53, Hole = 0

5.  Choose the selection tool.  Set it to Circle.  Start with your cursor at (250, 200)  and drag out a circle selection that encloses the circle in the center of the effect, like in pic below.

6.  Selection > Invert.  Layers > New Raster Layer.

7.  Set your Foreground color to a dark color of your graphic, background color to black.  Set the foreground to gradient :  foreground-background gradient, angle = 130, repeats = 0.  Flood-fill the selected area with your gradient.

7.  In the Layer Palette, change the layer blending style to Hard Light.

8.  Open up the fingerprint tube in the supply folder.  In the Material Properties, choose Pattern set it to the fingerprint, Angle = 37, Scale = 65.

9.  Layer > New Raster Layer.

10.  Flood-fill the selected area with the fingerprint pattern.

11.  In the Layer Palette, change the layer blending properties to Soft Light.

12.  Now copy (Edit > Copy)  and paste (Edit > Paste as New Layer) any crime scene tubes you wish to use.  Some were included in the supply file.

13.  Unzip the crime scene blood spatters into a folder somewhere.  Then load them into PSP by clicking  File > Import > Custom brush  and browse to your crime scene brushes.

14.  Use the eyedropper to pick up the red color from the bloody knife.  Then with the blood spatter brush chosen click some blood spatters on a new layer (Layer > New Raster Layer).

15.  Effects  > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel.  Apply these settings:  Bevel= pie, width = 12, smoothness = 10, depth = 20, ambience = 15, shininess = 20, angle = 315, Intensity = 40, elevation = 40.

16.  Choose the pen tool.  Set it to segment mode, width = 3.00.   Set the foreground color to the same red color that you used before.

17.  Draw lines on the edges of your picture as below.  Left click where you want to begin the line, hold the SHIFT key down and right-click where you want to end the line.  Holding the shift key down makes the line straight not jagged.

18.  In the Line Style of the pen tool settings, change it to Diamond style.

19.  Draw some diamond lines in to add some decoration

20.   Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow.  Apply these settings:  H&V = 1, Opacity = 100, Blur = 1

21.  Image > Add Borders.  CHECK Symmetric.  Color should be the same as your line color.  Size in pixels = 3.

22.  Resize as necessary (Image > Resize).  Add your text.  I used gunshot font.  Then save as a JPEG (File > Export > JPEG Optimizer)
