This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP. It is intended for upper beginners to learn how to use plugins. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro. I used Paint Shop Pro 8, but the steps used may also be done in Version 7.04. You may download a free trial at Jasc. You also need VM Natural Cross Weave filter. Remember to save as a psp file often! Before we begin, you might want to study the PSP tool bars. I have labeled the tools on another page. Click on the link and it will open a new page. You may want to keep this page open while you work on the tutorial, to refer to the names now and then. PSP Tools Now that you have studied the tools, let's begin! 1. Open the tube that you want to use. Resize the tube so that the largest dimension is not more than 300. At the top menu, click Image > Resize. Set to pixels, and change largest dimension to 300. Be sure that Resize all layers is CHECKED.
2. Open a new image that is 400 x 300, transparent.
3. Click on tube and in top menu, click Edit > Copy
4. Then click on New image, and in top menu, click Edit > Paste > As New Layer. 5. In the top menu, click Effects > Plugins > VM Natural > Cross Weave. Apply these settings: Size - 40, Gap Width - 200, Green = 1, and all other = 0
6. With the mover tool, move the weave image over to the left, like so:
7. In the Layer Palette, right-click on the weave image (top layer) and choose duplicate. 8. In the top menu, click Image > Mirror. If necessary, use the mover tool to move into place.
9. In the Layer Palette. hide the bottom layer. Then click on one of the top layers. Then right-click on that layer and choose Merge > Merge Visible. 10. In top menu, click Selections > Select All
11. In top menu, click Selections > Float.
12. In top menu, click Selections > Defloat.
13. UNhide the bottom layer, and flood fill the selection with white.
14. In the Layer Palette, click on the Merged layer, and slide the opacity level to 80% 15. Click on your tube again. In top menu, click Edit > Copy 16. Now click on your tag image. In top menu, click Edit > Paste > As New layer.
17. In the top menu, click Image > Resize, and Resize image to 85%. Be sure that Resize All Layers is UNchecked.
18. In top menu, click Layers > Merge > Merge Visible. 19. Now save the image as a GIF, by clicking File > Export > Gif Optimizer.
