I wrote this tutorial on my own. Any similarity to another tutorial is purely coincidental. I claim the copyright to my tutorial. This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP. It is intended for beginners to learn to use the pen tool. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro. I wrote this with Paint Shop Pro 9, but the steps may also be done in any version. You may download a free trial at Jasc. Remember to save as a psp file often! Download this Gold Fade Gradient, and place in your gradient folder of PSP. 1. Open New, transparent image, size 400 x 300.
2. Flood-fill this image with a gold gradient. 3. In top menu, click Selections > Select All. Then click Selections > Modify > Contract Selection. Contract by 5 pixels.
4. Right-click on border layer in Layer Palette and choose New Raster Layer. Call it background.
5. Flood-fill this selected area with the background color of your choice.
6. Right-click on the background layer in the Layer Palette, and choose New Raster Layer.
7. Choose the pen tool from the Tool Menu. In the Pen Options toolbar at the top, set the Mode to Segment, Width = 3, CHECK Create as a Vector
8. Set the foreground color to your gold gradient, background color to NULL 9. Hold the SHIFT key down, and draw a vertical line from (30, 20) down to (30, 280). Then draw a horizontal line from (30, 270) to (370, 270)
10. Right-click on the Vector Layer and choose Convert to Raster Layer.
11. Set the foreground to the Gold Fade gradient, Angle = 0, Repeats = 0.
12. Set the Pen tool to the same settings as before, Width = 15.
13. Draw a vertical segment from intersections of lines up to top of line (follow arrow in picture for direction)
14. Right-click on this vector layer and choose Convert to Raster Layer.
15. Set the foreground to the Gold Fade Gradient, Angle = 90, Repeats = 0.
16. Set the pen width = 25, and draw a horizontal line from the intersections of the lines to the right end. (follow arrow in picture for direction)
17. Right-click on this vector layer and choose Convert to Raster Layer. 18. In the Layer Palette, click on the eyes of the bottom two layers (background & border) to HIDE those layers.
Drag the Crossbars layers to the top (so that the skinny lines are on top of the faded lines) 19. In the top menu, click on Effects > 3d Effects > Drop Shadow. Apply these settings: Vertical = - 1 (negative), Horizontal = 1, Opacity = 100, Blur = 1, Color = black
20. Right-click on the top layer and choose Merge > Merge Visible.
21. Right-click on the Merged Layer and choose Duplicate.
22. In the top menu, click Image > Resize. Resize to 70%. Be sure that Resize All Layers is UNCHECKED.
23. In the top menu, click Image > Mirror.
24. In the top menu, click Image > Flip
25. Your tag should look like this so far: 26. Open up the tube that you wish to use. Edit > Copy. Then click on your tag and choose Edit > Paste > As New Layer.
27. Arrange your layers like this: LARGE Crossbars on top, Tube below that one, SMALL crossbars below tube. 28. You are now ready to add your watermark and your name. Save this as a JPEG. File > Save As.
