Dressing Up a Figure
I wrote this tutorial on my own. Any similarity to another tutorial is purely coincidental. I claim the copyright to my tutorial. You are free to do whatever you please with what you make, but please do not take my tutorial. Do not send the tutorial through email. Only share my link. This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about DAZ Studio. It is intended for beginners to learn how to dress up a figure with some installed add-ons. If you have any questions, please feel free to Email me. To do this tutorial you will also need DAZ Studio.
Part one: Installing Add-ons Ok, if you want to use the same doll and add-ons that I used, then you need to download from each of the links below. If you do not, then scroll to the bottom and click the link to the next part. DAZ Aiko 3.0 LE: http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/itemdetails/-/?item=2866&cat=6 (free until June 2007) Kazurburo Short Bob Hair: http://digitalbabes2.com/dload/Koz_Short_bob.html Lelu's Baby Doll Dress: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/15925440/

Now that you have downloaded the zips, you must install them into your DAZ Studio program: There are basically two methods, depending on the types of files that you downloaded. 1. Below is picture of the DAZ download file for the A3 base, and then a picture of another DAZ download file. Both of these are self-installable downloads.
2. DOUBLE-click on the ps_pe053 file to start the installation. Click NEXT until you come to this screen.
3. Be sure that the Destination Directory is pointing to the CONTENT folder for your DAZ Studio. Browse if necessary. The usual path is listed in the image above. 4. Then click next until it finishes the install. And now your DAZ Aiko 3 LE base is installed into the program. Add-on files downloaded from sites other than DAZ do not usually have a self-installable file. Instead, they are in zipped format (and sometimes RAR) and you will have to unzip them into the proper folder. So let's install the hair file now: 5. Click Start on your taskbar, then MY COMPUTER
6. Double-click on the C: drive, then on Program files, then on DAZ, then on Studio, then on content, then on Runtime folders. You may not have all of the folders listed below, but should have a Geometries, Libraries, and Textures folder. (It all depends on what you have already installed).
Now we will open the zip file. As you will see, I like to use the Drag-and-Drop feature of XP to unzip: 7. Double-click on the Koz Short Bob zip file to open it.
Double-click on theKoz_Short_bob_PC folder, and you will see the Runtime folder and Readme file.
Always look for the Runtime folder in these zip files. Most of the designers will put this folder in their zip files to help tell you where to place it in your DAZ folder. Remember, in step 6 we opened the Runtime folder inside the DAZ folder. Now you will open the Runtime folder in this zip file. Double-click on the Runtime folder and you will now see these folders: Geometries, Libraries, and Textures
You will also see the same folders in your opened DAZ folder (above in Step 6). 8. In the SHORT BOB folder, hold the CTRL key down and click on the Geometries, libraries, and textures folders to select them (highlight them) 9. DRAG them over to the DAZ folder window that you have open and RELEASE. The computer will ask you if you want to overwrite the folders, click YES. This is ok because you are only overwriting the Geometries, libraries, and textures folders -- not what's inside them. And that's it. The Short Bob hair is installed. 10. Now Repeat Steps 7 - 9 to install the other zip files of any add-ons you want to use. If you have added many files, you may want to organize the folders inside your libraries folder, to make it easier to choose your files in DAZ. If you wish to organize, you may use my tutorial here. Now that you have all the add-ons installed, you are ready to make your doll and dress it up.
