I've installed DAZ Studio.
What do I do now?

I own the intellectual copyright for the written tutorial.  What you make is yours, but please do not take my tutorial.  Share only my link.

This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about DAZ Studio.  It is intended for beginners.  If you have any questions, please feel free to Email  me.   Dedicated to all the Sylvia's out there in cyberspace!

To do this tutorial you will also need DAZ Studio.

So you have installed the program DAZ Studio and you want to know what to do now.

That's easy.

Now you need to install or load content into your DAZ Studio.

You can buy some content, but here is some free starter content:

3D Bridge Starter Pack (until 2016)

Free Michael 3.0 base (until June 2008)

3D Models Pack 1

Note:  V4 is not free

When you download files from DAZ or anywhere, you should put them in a folder somewhere on your c drive or external drive--not into your DAZ program folder!  In my folder I have created some subfolders:  one for V4, one for Aiko 3, one for M3, one for animals, etc.  -- and then I store my files in one of those folders for me to find easily.  Storing them in this folder does not load the files into DAZ, however.

Content files will be one of two types:  (Do not install unzip or unrar anything yet!  Just read!)

Program files -- they have icons/pictures that look like one of these:

These content files are like mini programs and are INSTALLABLE.  That means that if you double-click on one of them it will go through an install process, just like you would be installing a program.

Files you buy or download from DAZ usually come as installable files.

Zipped files -- they have icons/pictures that look like one of these:

These zipped files need to be opened by a program that will unzip them.  The second one (pic of books) is a .RAR file and will need a program that unRARs them.  If you don't already have this program installed, you may not even see books.  It may have some generic (unidentified) icon.

Windows XP comes with it's own unzipping program.
Or, you can download a program like Winzip.

But to unRAR programs, you will ALSO need:

Winrar  or Zipgenius  or 7zip(note:  zipgenius will do both-- unzip and unrar, and is free)

This is not a tutorial about how to use any of these zipping or unrar programs.  It is assumed you know how to use one.  The companies that made these programs have tutorials on how to use them.

These type of files are usually created by the people that share textures or other content they make for DAZ Studio/Poser, or by other sites that allow you to download file content -- like Renderosity and Runtimedna.

Do not install unzip or unrar anything yet!  Keep your files stored in your folders until you are ready to load content.  The next tutorial will tell you how to load V4.2

Let's install Victoria 4.2 (or V4.2)
