Saving Scenes
I own the intellectual copyright for the written tutorial. What you make is yours, but please do not take my tutorial. Share only my link. This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about DAZ Studio. It is intended for beginners to learn how to save a scene. If you have any questions, please feel free to Email me. To do this tutorial you will also need DAZ Studio. Like a scene that you created and think you'll want to reuse it? Or perhaps you're working on a scene and want to be able to put it aside to work on it later? Or maybe you want to use a scene that you already saved in the scene you are working in. 1. Create your scene. For the purposes of this tutorial, you can just open up a figure or item. Tip: I use this method for outfits that have alot of items in it (like Lassie of the Seas or Infamous)--Be sure to use Fit To -- save the doll with the basic outfit on it -- then I can call up the dressed doll anytime and add the textures, pose and go on from there. Be sure to use Fit To before you save!
2. File > Save As > Scene
Note: these files will have a .daz extension and can only be opened by DAZ! 3. Create a folder (if you haven't already) inside the DAZ > Content folder. I called mine MyPosers. And in that folder save your file. Click Save.
Saving can take a little longer than usual. It's done! 4. Now let's clear the screen: File > New
Wait while it clears the desktop. This would be a good time to get up and walk around, get coffee, get a snack, go to bed and come back tomorrow... 5. Started a project and want to use the file you saved? If you are starting from a blank screen: File > Open
OR already have some scene on the screen and want to add your file to it? File > Merge
6. Browse to the folder where you saved your scene and choose it. Click Open.
7. Continue working on your project ...
Tip: It is a good idea to save large projects as you are working, especially a very detailed project. Save in progress and save before you are about to render.
