Finding DAZ Templates
I wrote this tutorial on my own. Any similarity to another tutorial is purely coincidental. I claim the copyright to my tutorial. You are free to do whatever you please with what you make, but please do not take my tutorial. Do not send the tutorial through email. Only share my link. This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about DAZ Studio. It is intended for beginners to learn how to find templates for DAZ original files. If you have any questions, please feel free to Email me. To do this tutorial you will also need DAZ Studio. So you are interested in creating textures for original bases that were created by DAZ. DAZ is kind enough to place links to the template files on their pages. 1. Go to www.daz3d.com and search for the figure/clothing you want the template for. I searched for the Aiko 3.0 Base. Here's the page below:
2. Scroll down the page to below where it lists what files are included in this package. Under product installers, it will list the Texture Template Download links for both PC and MAC. Download the file type for your computer OS.
3. Save this file in a folder called Templates. I put this folder on my desktop. 4. Then you must "install" the template. You are not really installing; you are unpacking the template package. Double-click on the DAZ icon for the template file. You may get an Open File Security Warning like below. Click Run.
5. Click on Next until you get to the Choose Destination Location screen below:
6. The highlighted directory above will be the SAME folder that the template package is located in. If this is where you want to unpack it to, then continue by pressing next. If you want to choose a different place, then click Browse. I usually unpack it to the same folder. Then move it later if I want to. Now the files are ready to use for texturizing. See my Texturizing Tutorial for a how-to.
