Diamond Blinds Frame

This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about making eggs.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS - CS3.  You may download a free trial at Adobe.

Remember to save as a .psd file often!

Download Simple Plugin and install to your plugin folder:

1.  Download this mask and open it in Photoshop (Right-click and save as Target):

2.  Open a new, transparent image, size 600 x 500. 

3.  Open the photo that you wish to use.  Select > Select All.  Edit > Copy.  Click back on the transparent image.  Edit > Paste 

4.  Open up the DiamondBlindsMask image.

Image > Adjustment > Invert

 Select > Select All.  Edit > Copy.

5.  Click back on the background image. 

6.  Layer > Layer Mask > Hide All

7.  In the Layer Palette, click on the Channels Tab.  Click on the mask channel at the bottom so that the EYE shows.

8.  Edit > Paste.  At this point you should see the center of your image.

9.  Click back on the Layers tab.  Right-click on the Layer1 Mask thumbnail and choose Apply Mask.

Image >duplicate.  Minimize the duplicate for later use in Step 28

10.  Layer > New Layer.  Drag this layer to the bottom of the Layer Palette.

11.  In the Layer Palette, click on the bottom (blank) layer and fill it with a color from your image.  Edit > Fill   Layers > Merge Flatten

12.  Choose the Rectangle Marquee tool.  Set the tool bar to FIXED SIZE, and set the width = 100 px, and height = 500 px

13.  Layers > New Layer 

Left-click once to form the selection box on your image.  Then while you still have the marquee tool chosen, drag the selection box to the far right edge of your image.

14.  Fill the selection with a gold gradient

15.  Filter > Noise > Add Noise.  Gaussian, 30%, Monochrome

16.  Selection > Modify > Contract Selection by 5 pixels

17.  Press the delete key.

18.  Image > Image Rotation > 90 CCW

19.  KEEP the selection.  Right-click on the top layer and choose Merge Down.

20.  Filter > Texture > Texturizer   Apply Texture = Brick, 100%, 4

21.  Image > Image Rotation > 90 CW

22.  Choose the Rectangle Marquee tool.  Set the tool bar to FIXED SIZE, and set the width = 600 px, and height = 100 px

23.  Layers > New Raster Layer

Left-click once to form the selection box on your image.  Then while you still have the marquee tool chosen, drag the selection box to the far bottom edge of your image.

24.  Fill the selection with a gold gradient

25.  Filter > Noise > Add Noise.  Gaussian, 30%, Monochrome

26.  Selection > Modify > Contract Selection by 5 pixels

27.   KEEP the selection.  Right-click on the top layer and choose Merge Down.

28.  Filter > Texture > Texturizer   Apply Texture = Brick, 100%, 4

29.  Filter> Simple > Diamonds (will automatically apply when clicked)

30.  Selections > Modify > Border  5 px.

31.  Fill the border with the gold gradient.

32.  Filter > Noise > Add Noise, 30% Gaussian, Monochrome

33.  Select > Inverse

34.  Select > Modify > Contract by 50 pixels

35.  Filter > noise > Add Noise, same settings as before.

36.  Select > modify > Contract by 5 pixels.

37.  Open the duplicate you had made earlier in the tut.  Select > All  Edit > Copy.

38.  Click back on the frame image.  Edit > Paste Into Selection.

39.  Add your text and save as a JPEG.  File > Save As
