Fairy Blend
I own the intellectual copyright for the written tutorial. What you make is yours, but please do not take my tutorial. Share only my link. This tutorial is intended for beginners to learn how to use layer blends. If you have any questions, please feel free to Email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro. I wrote this with Paint Shop Pro X2, but the steps may also be done in any version. You may download a free trial at Corel. Remember to save as a psp file often! Download Fractal Brushes. Import them into your psp (if you have an earlier version, use the PNGs and export as a custom brush) 1. Open new, transparent image, size 400 x 400 px 2. Flood-fill the image with black. 3. Choose the text tool set to create as Vector. Background =white, foreground = null. I chose Tension font, set to size = 72 px.
4. In the Layer Palette, right-click on the font layer and choose Convert to Raster Layer
5. Layers > new Raster Layer
6. Flood-fill the layer with a rainbow gradient
7. Set the layer blend mode to Multiply
8. Layers > New Raster Layer
9. Set the brush tool to one of the fractal brushes (size about 50 px), and foreground color = white. Decorate the text
10. Layers > New Raster Layer
11. Flood-fill with another rainbow colored gradient
12. Change the layer blend to Overlay
13. Choose the brush tool, size = 5, hardness = 25, opacity = 55. foreground color = white.
14. Place some dots in various places. Change the sizes of the dots. I chose sizes 3 to 9 pixels.
15. You MUST keep the black background. Layers > Merge > Merge Visible 16. Save as a JPEG. File > Export > JPEG Optimizer Here's another example.
