Peacock Feather
I wrote this tutorial on my own. Any similarity to another tutorial is purely coincidental. I claim the copyright to my tutorial. You are free to do whatever you please with what you make, but please do not take my tutorial. Do not send the tutorial through email. Only share my link. This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP. It is intended for beginners to learn how to draw a feather with Eye Candy 4. If you have any questions, please feel free to Email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro. I wrote this with Paint Shop Pro X, but the steps may also be done in any version. You may download a free trial at Corel. Remember to save as a psp file often! Download Eye Candy 4 1. Open new, transparent image, size = 400 x 400 2. Flood-fill (with paintcan) this layer with black. 3. Choose the pen tool and set it to segment style, width = 3.
4. Layers > New Raster Layer
5. Draw a line segment down the middle of the image--left click for top point and then move down and left click for bottom point. Hold the SHIFT key down to keep the segment straight and not jagged.
6. Effects > Plugins > Eye Candy 4000 > Fur. Apply these settings: Angle = 105, Density = 79, Curl Size = 137.84, Curliness = 52, Length = 22.06, CHECK Color Hairs Uniformly, Hair Color = White
7. Right-click on this layer and choose Duplicate
8. Adjustments > Blur > Motion blur. Angle = 336, Strength == 75
9. Apply the fur setting again: Effects > Plugins > Eye Candy 4000 > Fur, same settings
10. Slide the Opacity of this layer to 57
11. HIDE the bottom (black) layer by clicking on the eye. Right-click on the top layer and choose Merge > Merge Visible
12. Right-click on the Merged layer and choose Duplicate
13. Image > Mirror.
14. With the mover tool, line up the two sides of the feather.
15. HIDE the black layer again. Right-click on one of the feather layers and choose Merge > Merge Visible. UNHIDE the black layer.
16. Selections > Float
17. Selections > Defloat
18. Layers > New Raster Layer
19. In the Material Properties choose a gradient or color of your choice.
20. Flood-fill the feather with this gradient. 21. Layer > New Raster Layer 22. Choose the selection tool and set it to ellipse. Draw a ellipse selection to fill in the gap at the top of the feather. Flood-fill this with your gradient or color choice (same as step 19)
23. Selections > None. Slide the opacity of this layer to about 59
24. Drag the ellipse layer BELOW the feather layer. HIDE the black layer.
25. Right-click on the feather layer and choose Merge > Merge Visible.
26. Now save this as a .PSP tube. File > Save As.
