This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn how to make an animation. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS - CS3. You may download a free trial at Adobe. Remember to save as a .psd file often! 1. Choose a photo. Image > Duplicate. 2. Choose the rectangle marquee tool and set it to FIXED ratio to make a square selection. Select the part of the image you want to use. Make your selection about 300 pixels, no larger.
3. Image > Crop to selection 4. Edit > Stroke Width = 20 px, color = black
5. Right-click on the layer and choose Duplicate Layer
6. Duplicate the layer so that you have 7 copies
7. Select > All
8. Selection > Modify > Contract Contract by 20 pixels
9. Filter > Noise > Add Noise Amount = 25%, Gaussian, Monochromatic
10. In the Layer Palette, click on one layer below. 11. Filter > Noise > Add Noise 400%, Gaussian, Monochromatic
12. In the Layer Palette, click on one layer below. 13. Filter > Noise > Add Noise 200%, Gaussian, Monochromatic
14. In the Layer Palette, click on one layer below. 15. Filter > Noise > Add Noise Amount = 375%, Gaussian, Monochromatic
16. In the Layer Palette, click on one layer below. 17. Filter > Noise > Add Noise 100%, Gaussian, Monochromatic
18. In the Layer Palette, click on one layer below. 19. Filter > Noise > Add Noise 225%, Gaussian, Monochromatic
20. In the Layer Palette, click on one layer below. 21. Filter > Noise > Add Noise 300%, Gaussian, Monochromatic
(You should not have anymore layers left) 22. Select > Deselect
23. Window > Animation
24. In the animation window, click on the menu arrow (UNDER the X at the top right) and choose Create Frames from Layers 25. In the animation window, click on Frame 1. HIDE all layers except for the bottom one.
26. Click on Frame 2. UNHIDE the second layer (from bottom)
27. Click on Frame 3. UNHIDE the third layer (from bottom)
28. Continue until each frame has it's appropriate layer unhidden. 29. Hold the CTRL key down and click on the first six frames to select all six.
30. Click on the menu arrow in the animation window and choose Copy Frames
31. Click on Frame 7. Then click on the menu arrow and choose Paste Frames (after current selection)
32. Click on the time delay (circle) and choose 0.1 seconds (do this for all frames) Click on the time loop (arrow) and choose forever
33. Click on Frame 7. Change the time delay to 1.0 (to make it stay longer)
34. Choose the text tool and add whatever text you want. This will add the text to all frames!
35. File > Save for Web& Devices
36. Use these optimization settings: GIF 128 dithered, selective, diffusion, lossy=0, colors = 128, dither = 88%,
