Half Wrap Weave Tag

This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about making animation.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS or CS2.  You may download a free trial at Adobe.

Remember to save as a .psd file often!

Download Simple Filters and install into plugins folder.

1.  CLICK on the image below, and THEN right-click and Save this mask image:

2.  Open a new transparent image, size = 400 x 400

3.  Edit > Fill with a color  of your choice.

4.  Open the Mask image.  Select > All.  Edit > Copy

5.  Click back on the background image.  Edit > Paste.

6.  In the Layer Palette, change the layer blend of this layer to soft Light.

7.  Right-click on this layer and choose Merge Down

8.  Right-click on this layer and choose Duplicate Layer

9.  Edit > Transform > Rotate 180 degrees

10.  Edit > Transform > Scale.  Set the Width & Height in the Scale toolbar to 90%

11.  Choose the Selection tool.  Then hold the CTRL key down and in the Layer Palette, left click on the thumbnail of the top layer.  This will select that layer.

12.  Selection > Modify > Contract Selection by 30 pixels

13.  Fill this layer with a gradient of your choice

14.  Selection > Modify > Contract Selection by 3 pixels

15.  Fill this selection with a pattern of your choice.  Edit > Fill. (or color )

16. Right-click on this layer and choose Merge Down

17.  Select > Deselect

18.  Filter > Simple > Left Right Wrap

19.  Image > Canvas Size.  Width = 403, Height = 403

20.  Select the blank canvas with the magic wand and fill this area with the gradient of your choice.

21.  Image > Canvas Size.  Width= 463, height = 463

22.  Select the blank area with the magic wand.  Edit > Fill with the same color as before.

23.  Layer > new > layer

24.  Open up the Mask.  Edit > Define Pattern.  I named it BlindWeave

25.  Fill the new layer selection with this pattern.  Edit > Fill > Pattern (choose the pattern from the drop-down menu.

26.  In the Layer Palette, change the layer blend mode to Soft Light.

27.  Right-click on the layer and choose  Merge Down

28.  KEEP the selection!  Filter > Simple > Left Right Wrap

29.  Image > Canvas Size  With = 469, Height = 469.

30.  With the magic wand, select this blank area.  Fill it with the gradient of your choice.

31.  Selection > Deselect

32.  Add an image cutout of your choice as a new layer and any text.

33.  Save this as a JPEG.  File > Save As
