![]() I claim the copyright to this tutorial. You are free to do whatever you please with what you make, but please do not take my tutorial. Do not send the tutorial through email. Only share my link. This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP. It is intended for high beginners to intermediates. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro. I used Paint Shop Pro 8, but the steps used may also be done in Version 7 or 6. You may download a free trial at Jasc. Remember to save as a psp file often! Before we begin, you might want to study the PSP tool bars. I have labeled the tools on another page. Click on the link and it will open a new page. You may want to keep this page open while you work on the tutorial, to refer to the names now and then. PSP Tools Now that you have studied the tools, let's begin! You will need:
2. In the Left tool menu, click on the preset shapes tool. In
the tool box find the Heart preset shape that you made
or want to use.
3. Once the heart shape is selected, check antialias. Do
NOT check create as a vector. The line width does not matter.
4. Set the foreground color to null, and the background color to the color you want to use for your background. I chose a blue. 5. With the preset shape tool (set to heart shape), draw a large heart.
See pic.
6. Apply any plugin you want. I applied a texture (Effects > Texture Effects > Texture). Apply any other tubes or plugins to decorate your heart. I wanted to make mine look somewhat like a globe. I used my globe tutorial. 7. Apply any text you want to have. Don't forget your watermark! 8. My picture looks like this:
9. Get the magic wand from the left tool menu, and click on the
outside of the heart. This selects the transparent area.
10. In the top menu, click Selections > Invert.
11. In the top menu, click Selections > Modify > Expand Selection.
Choose 25.
13. In the top menu, click Layers > New Raster Layer Name
this layer Lace
14. In the Layer Palette, drag the lace layer below your heart
layer.
15. Flood-fill the Lace layer with white
16. In top menu, click Effects > Plugins > Alien Skins Xenofex2
> Burnt Edges.
17. With the magic wand, click anywhere on your heart. This
should shrink the selection to now fit around the rough edges. Otherwise,
get the selection by repeating Step 9 & 10 (and then skip #18)
18. In top menu, click Selections > Defloat.
19. Flood-fill the lace layer with white again. 20. Make sure your Layer Palette is still on the Lace layer.
In top menu, click Effects > Plugins > Filters Unlimited > Filters Factory
Gallery J > Radial Sun OR
21. Now to make the lacy look. In top menu, click Effects
> Plugins > Screenworks > Lace Screen. No dialogue box will
come up. It automatically applies the filter. *s*
Now we are ready to animate. It would be a good idea to save this in layers for future use. File > Save As 22. In top menu, click Layers > Merge > merge Visible 23. In top menu, click Edit > Copy 24. Launch Animation Shop. In top menu, click File > Jasc
Software Products > Launch Animation Shop.
25. In Animation Shop, click Edit > Paste > As New Animation
26. Now go back to Paint Shop. 27. In Paint Shop, click the UNDO button once. You should now have your image in 2 layers again. 28. In the Layer Palette, click on the heart layer (top layer) to highlight/activate it. 29. In top menu, click on Image > Resize. Check Percent, UNCHECK All Layers. Set the percent to 99% 30. In top menu, click Layers > Merge > Merge Visible. 31. In top menu, click Edit > Copy. 32. Now go to Animation Shop. 33. In top menu, click Edit > Paste > Before Current Selection 34. In top menu, click Edit > Select All
35. Right-click on one of the frames and select Frame Properties.
36. Set the Display time to 40 or 45.

on the image and choose View Animation.
