Heart Bow

This tutorial is intended for beginners to learn how to create heart bow out of curled ribbon.  If you have any questions, please feel free to Email  me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro.  I wrote this with  Paint Shop Pro X2, but the steps may also be done in any version.  You may download a free trial at Corel.

Remember to save as a psp file often!

Download Plugin & Install:  AV Bros PAGE Curl 2.1 or higher

Download these Presets.  Place them in any folder you want (not PSP folders)

1.  Open new, transparent image, size 500 x 500.

2.  With the selection tool set to RECTANGLE, draw out a selection that is about 400 pixels wide, 30 - 40 pixels high.  Flood-fill it with the pattern or gradient of your choice.

3.  Selections > Select None

4.  3D Effects > Plugins > AV Bros > Page Curl Pro

Click on the Main menu and choose Load Settings (relative).  Browse to the folder where you saved the preset.  Choose DragonBreathHeart.avcps  preset.

5.  In the lower part of the settings box, click on the Define button at the box and choose Custom color.  Use the dropper to pick a color that goes with your pattern.

6.  Click on the Adjust menu and choose Swap Sides Content.   This will switch the color and pattern from front & back.  Click OK

7.  Right-click on layer and choose Duplicate.

8.  Image > Mirror

9.  With the moving tool, move the right piece into position to make a heart.

10.  Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

11.  Now decorate your heart bow if you like.  I added a diamond tube to the intersection and put a sparkle on the diamond.

12.  Save this as a PNG if you wish to share it with others.
