When you first use PSP 9, you need to change some save settings so that your saved psp files can be used in previous versions and in Animation Shop.  To do this:

1.  Open up a new image.  File > New.  It doesn't matter the size or background color.

2.  Click File > Save As

3.  When the Save As Box comes up, set the file format to .psp image

4.  Click on the Options button near the bottom of the box.

5.  Set to UNCOMPRESSED  (Animation Shop does not like the LZ compression)

6.  Set to PSP 7 (or 8)  compatible.  I use PSP 7 compatible since many still use that version.

7.  Click Save

Now that you have made those settings your PSP 9 tube files can be opened in PSP 7 or 8 as well.
