a web set or a stationary background I wrote this tutorial on my own. Any similarity to another tutorial is purely coincidental. I claim the copyright to my tutorial. This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP. It is intended for beginners to learn how to use plugins and how to make a stationary/web set background. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro. I wrote this with Paint Shop Pro 9, but the steps may also be done in any version. You may download a free trial at Jasc. Remember to save as a psp file often! You will need to download the Italian Editors plugin (particularly Effecto Fantasma) You will also need to download the plugin: Visman VM Toolbox 1. Open a new, transparent image, size = 800 x 300 pixels.
2. Choose a light shade of a color for your foreground, and a darker shade of the color for your background. 3. Choose the Selection tool. Set it to Rectangle selection. Click on the Custom Selection icon. (Has blue box around it in picture)
4. In the Custom Selection box, set top = 0, left = 0, right = 200, bottom = 300
5. Change the foreground to Gradient style. Set the gradient at Foreground-Background gradient, with Angle = 50, and Repeats = 0.
6. Flood-fill the selected area with the gradient. 7. In the top menu, click Effects > Texture > Blinds. Apply these settings: Width = 5, Opacity = 20.
8. In the top menu, choose Selections > Modify > Contract. Contract selection by 5.
9. In the top menu, choose Selections > Invert.
10. Flood-fill the selection with the darker background color.
11. Choose the Rectangle Selection Tool. Click on the Custom Selection icon. Set the top = 5, Left = 300, Right = 795, Bottom = 100.
12. Flood-fill this with the same Foreground-Background color.
13. In top menu, click Effects > Texture > Blinds. Apply the same settings as before. Selections > Select None
14. In the top menu, click Effects > Plugins > Italian Editors > Effecto Fantasma. Apply these settings: Sporta-X = 38, Sporta-Y = 75.
15. Right-click on this layer and choose Duplicate.
16. In the top menu, click Image > Flip
17. In the top menu, click Image > Mirror.
18. In the Layer Palette, set the Blend Modes to Soft Light.
19. Right-click on the top layer in the Layer Palette and choose Merge > Merge Visible.
20. In the top menu, click Effects > Edge Effects > Enhance.
21. In the top menu, click Layers > New Raster Layer.
22. Flood-fill the layer with the darker background color.
23. In the top menu, click Effects > Plugins > VM Toolbox > Grid. Apply these Settings: Grid Size = 30, x-adjust=0, y-adjust=0, line width =0, red, green, blue & transparency = 255.
24. In the top menu, click Effects > Edge Effects > Enhance
25. In the Layer Palette, Slide the Opacity of the grid layer to 42%.
26. Right-click on the top layer and choose Merge > Merge Visible
27. In the top menu, click Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling. Apply these settings: Tiling method = Corner, Direction = bidirectional, Horizontal =0, vertical = - 2, transition = 100, corner style = Linear
28. Now you have a background that will seamlessly tile. Save this as a JPEG. File > Save As. 29. Now to make the side border background: In the top menu, click Image > Canvas Size. Set the width = 1600, height = 300, and Placement = center left.
30. Right-click on this layer and choose Duplicate.
31. In the top menu, click Image > Mirror
32. Right-click on the top menu, and click Merge > Merge Visible
33. Now we need to make this tile down the page. In the top menu, click Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling. Apply these settings: Tiling Method = Edge, Direction = Vertical, Width = 50, Transition = 100.
34. Now to add the graphic that you wish to use: Open up the tube you want to use. Edit > Copy. 35. Click back on the the background image and click Edit > Paste > Paste as new Layer. With the mover tool, move the tube all the way to the left edge. 36. In the top menu, click Layers > New Raster Layer
37. Choose the Rectangle Selection tool. Click on the Custom Selection icon in the selection tool bar. In the Custom Selection box type these settings: Top = 0, Left = 0, Right = 100, Bottom = 300.
38. In the top menu, click Effects > Distortion > Wind. Apply these settings: direction=from right, strength = 100
39. In the Layer Palette, slide the Opacity of this layer to 50%.
40. Now save this background as a JPEG. File > Export > JPEG Optimizer.
