I wrote this tutorial on my own.  Any similarity to another tutorial is purely coincidental.  I claim the copyright to my tutorial. You are free to do whatever you please with what you make, but please do not take my tutorial.  Do not send the tutorial through email.  Only share my link.

This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about using tubes and layers.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS or CS2.  You may download a free trial at Adobe.

Remember to save as a .psd file often!

Download supplies.

1.  Open up the Pumpkin tube in Photoshop.  Image > Duplicate.  Close the original.  This tube has 3 layers.  Delete the bottom and watermark layers by right-clicking on each layer and choosing Delete.

2.  Right-click on the Pumpkin layer and choose Duplicate Layer.

3.  Choose the Elliptical Marquee Tool

4.  Draw an ellipse selection by dragging out from top left to right and down.

5.  Press the Delete key.

6.  Selection > Modify > Expand.  Expand by 10 pixels.

7.  Edit > Copy.  Edit > Paste.

8.  Right-click on this top pasted layer and choose Blending Options.  Click on the WORDS  Bevel and Emboss.  Apply these settings:  Inner Bevel, Smooth, Depth = 100%, direction = Up, size = 5, soften = 0.  Change the angle to your liking.

9.  With the magic Wand, click INSIDE the ellipse frame you just made.

10.  Selection > Modify > Expand by 10 pixels.

11.  In the Layer Palette, click on BOTTOM pumpkin layer.  In top toolbar, Layer > New Layer

12.  Edit > Fill  with an orange pumpkin color (for the inside of pumpkin).

13.  In the Layer Palette, slide the opacity of this layer to about 40%

14.  Open the web tube.  Edit > Copy.  Click back on the pumpkin image.  Edit Paste.  With the mover tool, move the web into position in a "corner"  of the cutout of the pumpkin.

15.  Open up the spider tube.  Edit > Copy.  Click back on the pumpkin image.  Edit > Paste.  Move the spider into position onto the web.

16.  Now open whatever other images or tubes that you wish to use to decorate your jackorama.   In the picture below, I placed the cat on the TOP layer so that it would be outside the pumpkin.  I placed the reaper underneath the pumpkin cutout layer to make it look like it was inside the pumpkin.  Some of the reaper stuck out beyond the pumpkin.  So I clicked on the very bottom pumpkin layer.  With the magic wand, I clicked on the blank area outside of the pumpkin.  Then In the layer palette, I clicked back on the reaper layer and pressed delete.  This deletes the excess part of the image.

17.  When you are satisfied with your placement of your decorations, add your watermark and text.  Then Layers > Merge Visible.

18.  Save this as a GIF.  File > Save As.
