Lacy Tile

This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about making a lace tile. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS - CS3. You may download a free trial at Adobe. Remember to save as a .psd file often! Download Supplies. 1. Open the grid template that was in the supply folder. 2. Image > Duplicate. Close the original.
3. Choose the rectangle Marquee tool
4. Hold the CTRL key down and In the Layer Palette, click on the thumbnail (see pink arrow). This will select the grid.
5. Edit > Fill with color of your choice. 6. Select > Deselect
7. Choose the brush tool
8. Click on the brushtips menu and choose a brushtip of your choice. (You may have to install some if you don't have any) Set brush tip size to 245 px
9. Layer > New >Layer
20. With foreground the same color as the grid color, Left-click the brushtip in the top left corner.
21. In the Layer Palette, right-click on top layer and choose Duplicate Layer
22. Edit > Transform > Rotate. In the top bar set the angle rotation to 90 degrees.
23. With the mover tool, move the rotated image into the top right corner.
24. Repeat Steps 21 - 22 and move the image into the bottom right corner. 25. Repeat Steps 21 - 22 and move the image into the bottom left corner. 26. You can choose brushtips or shapes to fill in some space. I used the custom shape tool and drew a heart in the center.
27. Click on the very bottom layer (grid layer) and HIDE that layer by clicking on its eye.
28. Right-click on the top layer and choose Merge Visible. UNHIDE the bottom layer.
29. Layer > New > Layer
30. Edit Fill with a color that is a shade darker or lighter than your grade color.
31. Drag the colored layer to the bottom.
32. Image > Image Size. Set Width = 200 pixels. The Height will automatically adjust.
33. Save this as a JPEG. File > Save AS and change file format to JPEG. Now it's ready to use as a page background.
