This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about layers and plugins. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS. You may download a free trial at Adobe. Click on the link to download the supplies. Includes mask tubes and a variety of jesters. You will need to install the VM Toolbox Zoomblur filter. (Download Visman tools) Remember to save as a .psd file often! 1. Open up the mask image in Photoshop. 2. In the top
menu, click Image > Duplicate. Close the original. 3. In Layer Palette, right-click on layer and choose Duplicate Layer.
4. In top menu, click Layer > New > Layer. 5. In Layer palette, left click on new layer, hold, and drag it down to the bottom. 6. Choose the Paint Bucket Tool. You may need to right-click on the Gradient Tool to pick the Paint Bucket Tool. Set your foreground color to white.
7. Flood-fill the bottom layer with white. You will need this white background because we will make one of our layers slightly transparent.
8. In the Layer Palette, click on the eye of the top mask layer to HIDE that layer. And then click on the middle (bottom mask layer) to highlight it. 9. In the top menu, click Filters > VM Toolbox > ZoomBlur. Apply these settings: Amount=45, Adjust = 68.
10. In the Layer Palette, slide the opacity arrow down to 50%.
11. In the Layer Palette, click on the eye in the top layer and UNHIDE the eye. Right-click on that layer and choose Blending Options.
12. Click on the words Drop Shadow. This will place a check next to them and open up the settings for Drop Shadows. Apply these settings: Blend Mode = Normal, Opacity = 40, Angle = 143, Distance = 10, Spread = 10, Size = 10.
13. Open up the jester tube that you want to use. In top menu, click Edit > copy. 14. Click back on Mask image. In top menu, click Edit > Paste. This will paste the jester as a new layer. 15. The jester may be too big. In top menu click Edit > Transform > Scale. In the scale toolbar at the top, click on the chain to lock the proportion of the picture. Then with the left mouse drag one of the corners in toward the center, to shrink the jester to an appropriate size. When satisfied, click on the Check in the Scale toolbar.
16. We want to apply the same drop shadow effect to this jester, so in the mask layer with the drop shadow, right-click on the drop shadow effect and choose "Copy layer Style"
17. Then in the jester layer, right-click and choose Paste Layer Style. Now the jester has the same drop shadow effect.
18. Use the text tool to add your name. 19. Then save this as a jpeg. File > Save As and change save format to jpeg.
