Minimum Frame

This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about filter effects. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS or CS2. You may download a free trial at Adobe. Remember to save as a .psd file often! 1. Open the image you want to use. Image > Duplicate. Close the original.
2. Image > Size. Set biggest side to 400 pixels.
3. Use the eye dropper to choose a dark color for your foreground (left-click) . 4. Image > Canvas Size. In the width & height, enter a number that is 4 pixels more than the current size (add 4 to the current size and enter that number into the new size). Then at the bottom, set the canvas extension color to white.
5. With the magic wand, select the white border.
6. Choose the gradient tool, and fill the selection with a gradient of your choice. I chose Gold. To fill with gradient: Left-click in top corner and drag to the bottom right corner, then release.
7. Image > Canvas Size. Add 4 pixels to the current size, and enter that as the numbers for the new size. (404 + 4 = 408, 304+4 = 308 ) And set the Canvas Extension color to foreground (your dark color)
8. Image > Canvas Size. Add 4 pixels to the current size and enter that into the new sizes. Set Canvas extension color to White.
9. Use the magic wand to select the white border, and fill it with the same gradient as before.
10. Choose the selection tool. Draw a square around a part of your image that you would like to use as your pattern.
11. Edit > Define Pattern
12. Select > Deselect.
13. Image > Canvas Size. Add 55 pixels to the current size and make that the new size. Set Canvas Extension color to White.
14. With the magic wand, select the white border. Edit > Fill. Set Contents = pattern and choose the pattern that you had made in Step 10.
15. Filter > Blur > Radial Blur. Choose Zoom and Best quality. Set Amount = 85.
16. Filter > Other > Minimum. Set Radius = 17 pixels
17. Image > Canvas Size Add 3 pixels to the current size, and make that the new size. Set Canvas extension color = white.
18. Select the white border with the magic wand and fill it with the same gradient as before.
19. Select > Deselect 20. Now save this as JPEG. File > Save As
