Removing Noise
I wrote this tutorial on my own. Any similarity to another tutorial is purely coincidental. I claim the copyright to my tutorial. You are free to do whatever you please with what you make, but please do not take my tutorial. Do not send the tutorial through email. Only share my link. This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about photo correction. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS or CS2. You may download a free trial at Adobe. Remember to save as a .psd file often! Reducing Noise should be completed after doing all other photo correction steps (color casting, overexposure, etc.). Sometimes those steps introduce noise into the picture. 1. Open up the photo that has noise. 2. Filter > Noise > Reduce Noise
3. Below the picture is a magnify option (plus sign). Click on that 2 or 3 times to enlarge your preview, so you can see what's happening.
4. On the right panel, set Strength = 7 - 8, Preserve details = 40 - 60%, Reduce Color Noise = high, above 70%, Sharpen Details = 15 - 25%. Play around with the settings until you get the correction you like.
If you choose the Advanced button (black circle), you'll be able to correct the noise per EACH color channel. 5. Once you find the settings you like you, can save them by clicking on the save settings icon (red circle). 6. Click OK, and save image. The picture above only shows Noise Reduction. No other photo correction has been done to that photo.
