This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about using transformations.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS.  You may download a free trial at Adobe.

Remember to save as a .psd file often!

Download these tubes.

1.  Open a new, transparent image with size = 500 x 400 pixels.

2.  In the color box at the right set the R = 133, G = 87, B= 0 

3.  Choose the Shape tool. Click on the arrow and choose ellipse.  Click on the set paths  (2nd icon on tool bar), and click on the solid square.  Style = null

4.  Draw a circle in the lower left corner.

5.  Right-click on the layer in the Layer Palette, and choose Rasterize Layer.

6.  Click on the circle with the magic wand to select it.

7.  In the top menu, click Filter > Texture > Patchwork

8.  Set the square size = 4, and Relief = 1

9.  In top menu, click Select > Modify > Contract Selection.  Contract by 5.

10.  In top menu, click Select > Inverse.

11.  Press the delete key on the keyboard.

12.  Right-click on Layer in Layer Palette and choose Duplicate Layer.

13.  In top menu, click Select > Modify > Contract.  Contract Selection by 15.

14.  Press the delete key on the keyboard.

15.  In the top menu, click Select > Deselect.

16.  Right-click on the top layer and choose Blending Options. 

 

17.  Click on the words:  Inner Shadow.  Apply these settings:  Blend Mode = Normal, Opacity = 60, Angle = 3, Distance = 2, Choke = 0, Size = 10

18.  Right-click on the BOTTOM layer and choose Duplicate Layer.

19.  Click on the Bottom layer in the Layer Palette.

20.  In the top menu, click Effects > Transform > Distort.  With the mouse, drag the top middle node down a little, and pull out the right middle node some.  When satisfied, click the check in the top tool bar to apply.

13.  Right-click on the bottom layer in the Layer Palette, and choose Blending Options.  Click on the words:  Inner Shadow.  Apply these settings:   Normal, Opacity = 50%, Angle = 3, Distance = 2, Choke = 0, Size = 40.

14.  Right-click on the bottom layer in the Layer palette and choose Duplicate.

15.  Click on the bottom layer in the Layer Palette.

16.  In the top menu, click Effects > Transform > Scale.  Click on the Chain to lock the proportion.

17.  Drag the top right corner in towards the center.  You won't see anything happen, other than the transform box shrink since this is the bottom layer.  When satisfied, click on the check in the tool bar at top to apply.

 

18.  With the mover tool, move this layer out a little to the right and up.

19.  Click on the bottom layer in the Layer Palette, and right-click on it.  Choose duplicate.

20.  Click on Effects > Transform > Again.

21.  With the mover tool, move this layer out a little to the right and up.

22.  Repeat Steps 19 - 21 two more times for two more layers.

23.  On the second one then click Edit > Transform > Rotate.

24.  Left click on the top Right corner and drag that corner a little to the left.  This rotates the layer counterclockwise.

25.  Repeat Steps 19 - 21 two or three more times for more layers.  Remember to go to Edit > Transform > Scale and shrink again for the first one.

26.  When satisfied with your layers, Click on the eye of the top layer to HIDE that layer.

27.  In top menu, click Layer > Merge Visible.

28.  Now save this as a .psd tube for later use!

29.  In top menu, click Image > Duplicate.  Close the original.  In the Layer Palette, click on the bottom layer.

30.  Open the pumpkin tube (or whatever images you want to use).  Resize the pumpkin tube (Image > Resize Image  40% )  Drag the pumpkin layer onto your cornucopia image.  This should insert the pumpkin as a new layer between the horn and the rim layers.

31.  Right-click on the pumpkin Layer and choose duplicate.  Duplicate a few layers of pumpkins.

32.  With the mover tool, move the pumpkins around.

33.  Click on the eyes for the rim layer (top) and the horn layer (bottom) to HIDE those layers.

34.  Click on one of the pumpkin layers.  In top menu, click on Layer > Merge Visible

35.  Click on the rim layer (top).  Then click on the extra space with the magic wand.

36.  In the Layer Palette, click on the pumpkin layer.  Press the delete key on the keyboard.  This will delete the parts of any pumpkins that stick out beyond the rim.

37.  In top menu, Select > Deselect.

38.  Right-click on the pumpkin layer and choose Blending Options.  Click on the words:  Drop Shadow.   Apply these settings:  Blend Mode = Normal, Opacity = 40, Angle = -37, Distance = 5, Spread = 0, Size = 30.

39.  Now click open up any other tubes you want to use to decorate with.  I included some leaves and sunflowers in the zip.  Drag some below the cornucopia, and some above the rim.

40.  Now save your image as a GIF.
