This tutorial is intended for a beginner to learn about animation of a snow globe. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. To do this tutorial you will also need Photoshop CS. You may download a free trial at Adobe. Remember to save as a .psd file often! Download the sparkle tube and the Corners font. 1. Open the image that you want to use for the background of your globe. 2. In top menu, click image > Duplicate. Close the original.
3. In top menu, click New > Background From Layer
4. Choose the Ellipse Marquee tool. You may have to click on the down arrow by the Rectangular Marquee Tool
5. In the top menu, click Select > Inverse
6. Press the delete key on your keyboard. 7. In top menu, click Select > Inverse.
8. Right-click on the Layer in the layer palette. Choose Blending Options
9. Click on the words: Inner Shadow. Apply these settings: Blend Mode = Normal, Opacity = 75, Angle = 30, Distance = 5, Choke = 0, Size = 25
10. In the top menu, click Layer > New > Layer.
11. Now click on the paint brush tool. Change the foreground color = white (#ffffff), size = 45, Mode = Dissolve, Opacity = 79%, Flow = 72 %, and click on the airbrush tool.
12. Airbrush on two streaks, as in the pic below. These will be highlights on our globe.
13. In top menu, click on Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Radius = 15.
14. In top menu, click Layer > Merge Visible.
15. Choose the Text tool. Change the font to Corners. Set the size = 200, and whatever color you want for your stand.
16. In the top menu, click Image > Canvas Size. Width = 504, Height = 500, Click on the top center Anchor.
17. Type a letter. Then type the letter after it to make the second half. Then press the checkmark in the tool bar to apply text. 18. In top menu, click Image > Trim to trim the excess space off.
19. Right-click on text layer and choose Rasterize Layer.
20. Right-click on Text layer and choose Blending Options. Click on the words Bevel and Emboss. Apply these settings: Inner Bevel, technique= smooth, depth = 100, direction = up, size = 5.
21. Then click on the words: Drop Shadow. Apply these settings: Normal, Opacity = 100, Angle = 132, Distance = 1, spread = 0, size =1
22. Now is a good time to add a watermark (your mark). With the text tool set to a font of your choice, size = 14, color = black. Type your name. 24. Open up the sparkle tube. 23. In top menu, click Image > Image Size. Change to percent, and 40%.
24. Drag the layer of the sparkle tube onto the globe image. 25. In the Layer Palette, right-click and choose Duplicate. Make 3 or 4 layers of the sparkle. 26. In the bottom of the tool menu, click on the Edit in Image Ready icon.
27. In the top menu, click Window > Animation.
28. In the box on the right side marked with tabs for Web Content and Color Table, click on the drop-down arrow, and choose Palette Options.
29. In the Web Content Options place a check in include Animation Frames. Choose your Thumbnail Size.
30. In the Animation Frame click on the down arrow and choose Copy Frame. 31. In the Animation Frame click on the down arrow and choose Paste Frame > After Current Frame. 32. Click on the first frame. Then choose the mover tool, and in the image arrange the 3 or 4 sparkles into position.
33. Click on the second frame. Then in the image arrange the sparkles into another position. 34. Click on the third frame. Then in the image arrange the sparkles into different position. 35. Hold the CTRL key, and click on the first, second, and third frames to highlight all three. 36. Click on the down arrow near the seconds and choose .2
37. Click on the Play button to see your animation. Adjust times as necessary. Press Stop.
51. In top menu, click File > Save Optimized As... and save!
