This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP.  It is intended for beginners to learn how to use a plugin.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro.  I used Paint Shop Pro 8, but the steps used may also be done in Version 7.04.  You may download a free trial at Jasc.

I also used Alien Skin's Xenofex 2 Crumple Plugin.  I have also provided settings for Xenofex 1.

Remember to save as a psp file often!

Now that you have studied the tools, let's begin!

1.  Open an New image, size = 300 X 300, Resolution = 200 or 300, color depth = 16 Million Colors , background = transparent.

2.  Flood -fill the image with a color that will compliment the tube you plan to use.

3.  In the top menu, click Effects > Plugins > Alien Skin > Xenofex > Crumple

Settings for Xenofex 1 Crumple:

crinkle size = 87, distortion = 18, random seed = 91, light boost = 58, highlight brightness = 5, highlight sharpness = 10, direction = 135, inclination = 45

Settings for Xenofex 2 Crumple:

crumple size = 43.83, crumple force = 52, distort image checked, direction = 60, inclination = 58, highlight brightness = 19.45, highlight size = 51.20, highlight color = white, light boost = 50, random seed = 8139

4.  In the top menu , click on Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow.  Apply these settings:  Vertical = 2, horizontal - 2, opacity = 100, blur = 2, color = a darker color that matches the background or black.

5.  Open the tube of your choice.  In the top menu, click Edit > Copy.

6.  Click on the background image to activate it.  In the top menu, click Edit > Paste > as new layer.

7.  In the layer palette, slide the opacity bar of Raster layer 2 (tube) to 46.  See above picture.

8.  In the left tool menu, choose the text tool.  I used Omen text, size = 72, in white or a color that compliments your background color, and type your name.  Keep Selected.

9.  In the layer palette, right-click on the floating text layer and choose Promote Selection to Layer.

10.  Use the Mover tool to move the text into place.  Then in the Layer palette, slide the opacity bar of the Promoted Selection Layer to 70.

11.  In the top menu, click on Layer > merge > merge visible. And export as a gif!
