I wrote this tutorial on my own.  Any similarity to another tutorial is purely coincidental.  I claim the copyright to my tutorial. You are free to do whatever you please with what you make, but please do not take my tutorial.  Do not send the tutorial through email.  Only share my link.

This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP.  It is intended for beginners to learn how to use animation.  If you have any questions, please feel free to Email  me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro.  I wrote this with  Paint Shop Pro XI, but the steps may also be done in any version.  You may download a free trial at Corel.

Remember to save as a psp file often!

Download Sqirlz Reflect program.  This is a stand alone program, so you will be switching between PSP, Sqirlz Reflect, and then finally Animation.

1.  In PSP, Open new, transparent image, size 300 wide by 100

2.  Flood-fill  the border color of your choice.  Select> All.  Selections > Modify, Contract by 10 pixels, and flood-fill the selection with your background color choice.

3.  Add any text you would like to add.  If you add the text now, the ripple effect will also be on the text.

4.  Must save the file now as a JPEG image.  File > Export > JPEG Optimizer

5.  Open the Sqirlz Water Reflections program.

6.  Open the file in the program, too.

7.  Click on the Start Creating Outline icon (looks like a red ellipse)

8.  This works like the lasso point to point tool in PSP.  Left-click in each corner around the banner, and then right-click to close the selection off.  I selected the whole graphic.

9.  Now click the Customize Ring Ripples icon.  So we can set the settings.

10.  Adjust the settings to what you like.  My settings are below.  Then close the box (Red X) when done.

11.   Click on the Rain/Snow and Ripples Combination icon to set its settings.

12.  We are only going to use the ripples, so place the dot inside the Ring Ripples only.  Close this box.

13.  Click on the Animation Period icon.  I set the animation period to 10 frames, didn't want my file to be too large.

14.  Click on the GIF icon.  This will save the animation as a GIF.

15.  If you would like to add some text on TOP of the rippling, open the Animation Shop program, and open the gif file you just saved.

16.  Open a new, transparent animation image, size = 300 x 100

17.  Now choose the text tool, and type your name in any font, color, size.   Center it within the frame.

18.  Edit > Duplicate Selected Frame.  Continue to duplicate until this image has the same amount of frames as your ripple image.

19.  Edit > Select All Frames.  Edit > Copy

20.  Click back on the Ripple Frames.  Edit > Select All Frames.

21.  Edit > Paste > Into Selected Frame.  And click where you want the text to be.

22.  Now save the image.  File > SAVE AS
