Rose Blinds Tag

This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP.  It is intended for beginners to learn how to use effects.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro.  I wrote this with  Paint Shop Pro 9, but the steps may also be done in any version.  You may download a free trial at Jasc.

Remember to save as a psp file often!

Download Flaming Pear Flood Plugin.

You will need a rose tube and a face tube.

1.  Open new, tranparent image, size = 600 x 500

2. Flood-fill this background layer with a dark color to match your rose tube.

3.  In top menu, click Effects > Texture > Blinds.  Apply these settings:  Width = 5, Opacity = 70, Horizontal CHECKED, Light from left/top CHECKED.

4.  Open face tube.  If your face tube is not a black-and-white image, then click Image > Greyscale.  then click Image > Increase Color Depth > 16 bits.

5.  If tube is too large, click Image > Resize.  Resize so that height = 500 pixels.

6.  In top menu, click Edit > Copy.

7.  Click back on blinds image.  In top menu, click Edit > Paste > Paste As New Layer.

8.  In top menu, click Image > Mirror.  With mover tool, move the face tube into position on the right side of the image.

9.  In the Layer Palette, slide the opacity layer of the face image to 60%

10.  Open up the rose tube.  Edit > Copy .  Then click back on the blinds  image.  Edit > Paste > Paste as New Layer.

11.  In top menu, click Effects > Plugins > Flaming Pear > Flood.  Apply these settings:  Horizon = 83, offset = 0, perspective = 57, altitude = 50, waviness = 73, complexity = 59, brilliance = 40, blur = 16, size = 100, height = 100, undulation = 100, glue = lighten.

12.  Move the rose flood into place at bottom left corner.

13.  Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

14.  Choose the Selections tool.  set it to Round Rectangle.  Draw a large strip near the bottom of the tag.  Flood-fill it with a medium shade of your background.

15.  In top menu, click Selections > Modify > Contract.  Contract by 5 pixels.

16.  Flood-fill the selection with the dark shade from your background.

17.  In top menu, click Selections > Modify > Contract.  Contract by 3.

18.  Flood-fill this region with the medium shade.

19.  In the top menu, click Effects > Texture > Blinds.  Apply these settings:  Width = 5, Opacity = 70, Horizontal CHECKED, Light from left/top CHECKED

20.  In the Layer Palette, slide the opacity of this layer to 50%

21.  In top menu, click Image > Resize.  Resize to width = 375 pixels.  Resize All Layers CHECKED.

22.  In top menu, click Image > Add Borders.  CHECK Symmetric, size = 3, color = white

23.  With the magic wand choose the white border.

24.  Flood-fill the selection with a gold gradient, set to angle = 145, repeats = 5.

25.  Image > Add Borders.  Size = 10, Color = white

26.  Choose the white border with the magic wand.  Flood-fill it with the background color.

27.  In top menu, click Effects > Texture > Blinds.  Width = 5, Opacity = 70, Horizontal CHECKED, Light from left/top CHECKED

28.  Image > Add Borders.  size = 3, color = white.

29.  Select the white border with the magic wand.  Flood-fill the selection with the gold gradient.

30.  Image > Add Borders.   Size = 5, color = white.

31.  Select the white border with the magic wand.  Flood-fill this selection with the medium color.

32.  Apply the same blinds effects as before.  Effects > Texture > Blinds

33.  Image > Add Borders.  Size = 3, color = white.  Select the white border with the magic wand.  Flood-fill this selection with the gold gradient.

 34.  Save this image as a JPEG.  File > Export > Jpeg Optimizer
