You are welcome to download this background if you like.  Just click on the image.

I own the intellectual copyright for the written tutorial.  What you make is yours, but please do not take my tutorial.  Share only my link.

This tutorial is intended for beginners to learn how to create a scrapbooking background that is 12 inches by 12 inches.  If you have any questions, please feel free to Email  me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro.  I wrote this with  Paint Shop Pro XI, but the steps may also be done in any version.  You may download a free trial at Corel.

Remember to save as a psp file often!

Download DSB Flux  plugin and install.

We will make a 12 by 12 background from a photo and also turn it into stripes.  A 12 by 12 background is necessary when you want to create a print-ready background for scrapbooking.  If you are going to create the page itself on the computer, then you don't need a size this big.

1.  Open the photo you wish to use.  SHIFT + D to duplicate.  Close the original.

2.  Choose the selection tool, and set it to square.

3.  Draw a square around the part of the photo that you wish to use.

4.  Image > Crop to Selection

5.  Image > Resize.  Under the section called Print Size, set the width = 12 INCHES and Height = 12 inches

6.  Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen

7.  Effects > Plugins > DSB Flux > Tiler.  Apply these settings to get stripes:  Width = 15, Height= 54, X Offset = 26, Y Offset = 100.

8.  Now save as a JPEG.  File > Export > JpEG Optimizer.
