Stamps Tutorial

I claim the copyright to this tutorial.  You are free to do whatever you please with what you make, but please do not take my tutorial.  Do not send the tutorial through email.  Only share my link.

This tutorial was created for some friends of mine who wanted to begin learning more about PSP.  It is intended for intermediates to learn how to use preset shapes and to shade.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

To do this tutorial you will also need Paint Shop Pro.  I used Paint Shop Pro 8, but the steps used may also be done in Version 7.04.  You may download a free trial at Jasc.

You will need an image that you would like to use.

You will need the Postmaster Font.

Remember to save as a psp file often!

1.  Open a new 135 x 155 transparent image.

2.  Flood-fill the image with white.

3.  In top menu, click Effects > Distortions > Wave.  Apply these settings:  for both horizontal and vertical:  Amplitude = 3, wavelength=9

4.  In top menu, click Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow.  Apply these settings:  vertical = 1, horizontal = 1, Opacity = 100, blur = 1, color = #404040

5.  Repeat the drop shadow, but this time change vertical & horizontal = -1 (negative)

6.  In top menu, click Selections > Select All

7.  In top menu, click Selections > Modify > Contract Selection.  Contract by 10.

8.  While it is still selected, save this as a psp template so that you can just add the images later.  In top menu, click  File > Save As   save it as Stampblank.

When you open it later, the selection will already be there  so that all you have to do is paste an image into the selection.

9.  Press Shift & D on keyboard to duplicate image.  Minimize the original one

10.  Open up the image you want to use for your stamp.

11.  With the Rectangle Selection tool, draw a selection around the part of the image that you want to include on your stamp.

12.  In top menu, click Edit > Copy.

13.  Now click on your duplicate stamp template, and in top menu click Edit > Paste > Paste Into Selection

14.  Now click your text tool.  I chose the Postmaster font, size = 16, Boldface, foreground color= null, background color = white.   Type your stamp saying, and move it into one of the corners.

15.  Save this stamp as a psp image  (and then again as a gif image).

Now you can use your stamp to make  a Stamp Sig Tag
