Dragon Sighting
I saw a real live dragon today!
My sister and her family came down to visit this week, and today we drove to tour the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans. And, they had sea dragons in their exhibit.
Here is a picture of their weedy sea dragon:

The sea dragon can be found in the waters off of Australia. They grow to be 10 – 12 inches, and may live to be about 8 years old. They belong to the same family that sea horses belong to. Like the seahorses, the females lay the eggs on the male’s body and the males carry the eggs around with them until they hatch, about 2 months. Sea dragons are considered a Near Threatened species, and are protected from collection by Australian law.
There are only about 50 aquariums that have sea dragons world wide. In 2008, a sea dragon in the Atlanta aquarium became pregnant for only the third time. For More Info
