Once again

Well, as a result of my cardiologist visit, I am back on a diet.  Having a teacher almost have a heart attack at school only sealed my commitment.  The doctor recommended the South Beach diet — low carbs, no sugar, and high protein.  I went to the book store to get a book, since he said it explained why this is supposed to work.  I haven’t finished the book yet.  My other health problems make me fall asleep when I read too long.  But  I must say that I started this diet on Wednesday, September 23.  From Wednesday to Friday, I’ve lost 4 pounds on this diet.

YAY!!!!

The first two weeks I am supposed to eat no sugar and no sugar added foods, besides the low carbs.  So that’s no bread, no pasta, no potatoes, and no fruits or root vegetables (like carrots, turnips, beets)  I have not been hungry, and I have not really craved these foods.  But it is an inconvenience.  I was used to eating cereal for breakfast every day.  I didn’t want to get up any earlier than I already am.  Now I cannot eat cereal.  I’ve replaced my usual breakfast with 2 boiled eggs and some canadian bacon.  I can boil eggs for the week ahead, so that helps in the mornings.  Lunch has been troublesome.  I usually ate a SlimFast bar, but it is too high in carbs.  Now I eat some raw broccoli, cauliflower, and raddishes with yogurt, and a couple of slices of deli turkey.  But that takes some time to prepare each night.

My next goal will be to restart the exercise.
